Tire Rotation
Don’t Let Your Tires Play Favorites—Time for a Rotation!
Your tires play a critical role in your vehicle’s performance and keeping you safe on the road. Professional tire rotation can prevent uneven tire wear and help your tires last longer. With proper care, you can expect your tires to last 40,000 to 80,000 miles. Taking your vehicle to the experienced mechanics at is the best way to guarantee even wear and protect your tires — and may be a condition of your warranty.
Our experienced professionals will do a tire inspection to determine which tire rotation patterns are appropriate. We’ll also check to see if you need any other tire service to keep your vehicle in excellent working order.

What Is Tire Rotation?
Tire rotation is the process of repositioning your tires to promote even wear. When your tires wear evenly, they last longer, and you can postpone expensive tire replacement. For most vehicles, a front-to-back tire rotation is the best option. We’ll move the tires that are on your front axle to the back axle and the ones on the back axle to the front. The exact pattern will depend on your vehicle’s drivetrain. Hi-Tech Auto Specialists will examine your car and determine the best pattern for optimal wear.
Tire Rotation Patterns
On front-wheel-drive vehicles, we take the front tires and move them to the back on the same side. Then we move the back tires to the opposite side on the front.
For rear-wheel-drive vehicles, we reverse the process by moving the back tires to the front on the same side. Then we move the front tires to the opposite side on the back.
On all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicles, we move the front tires to the opposite side on the back and the back tires to the opposite side on the front.
If you have non-directional tires or your front tires are different sizes than your rear tires, then side-to-side tire rotation will be most effective. We’ll keep your tires on the same axle but move them to the opposite side.
Tire Rotation Benefits
Maintaining a regular tire rotation interval improves your vehicle’s overall performance. Based on your drivetrain, your tires will wear differently. Rotating your tires counteracts this uneven wear pattern that can negatively impact your vehicle’s traction, stability, and handling. Tires that wear out prematurely can also lead to hydroplaning, problems with steering, and even blowouts.
During the process of rotating tires, we can also do a tire balance and wheel alignment and inspect your tire tread depth. Our computer-assisted machines provide an exact measurement of the adjustment angles we used, which you can keep with your service records.
Unrotated tires can develop flat spots, edge wear, and cupping — all of which can cause your tires to fail prematurely and unexpectedly. Avoid these potentially dangerous situations with regular tire maintenance. At Hi-Tech Auto Specialists, we recommend that you follow the tire rotation frequency listed in your vehicle’s owner manual or every 5,000 to 7,000 miles.
Signs Your Tires Need To Be Rotated
Regardless of when your tires were last rotated, if you notice any of the following signs, bring your vehicle into Hi-Tech Auto Specialists. You may need a tire rotation or tire replacement.
Uneven Tire Wear
Check your tires for signs of irregular wear. As your tires wear down, they’re designed to show small horizontal ridges between the tire treads. If you see this pattern on one side of your tire but not the other or it looks different on the front and back tires, it indicates your tires need to be rotated because they aren’t wearing evenly.
Handling Issues
Because your tires are your connection to the road, you should have your tires inspected if you notice problems in handling such as vibrations, shimmying, pulling to one side, or reduced traction.
